Becoming a Member

Mindful Families of Durham is a cooperative community. All of its members participate in leading the opening ceremony, working with the children (if needed), and taking on other responsibilities. Each member is expected to donate a pledged amount in order to contribute to the group's expenses.

For more information on membership, please send your questions through this contact form.

Interested families are welcome to visit up to 3 times to see if the group is right for them. Following this, families can become MFD members by:

  1. If children are part of the family, enrolling their children in the Sati School.

  2. Joining a Committee

  3. Pledging an annual membership donation (prorated based on month joining in year). This financial support primarily covers the cost of the Sati School teachers and rent. (More below)

Member Expectations

Members are needed to serve in volunteer capacities and on the MFD board.

Membership confers the right to vote in annual board elections each January.

MFD is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit. All donations are tax-deductible.

Families are asked to make an annual membership donation of between $600 and $1400 a year, which primarily helps pay for the teachers and rent. However, any family is welcome to participate in the community, regardless of what they can donate.
